Rochester Church of Christ has three unique web designs with faithHighway: one for the main church body and two focusing on their children’s and youth ministries. This can be very helpful to distinguish between the major portions of a ministry and can create websites that gear themselves to a particular sector of the congregation. Regarding this idea, Lora explained, “We wanted a website that reflected who we have become as a congregation: vibrant, fresh, diverse, and the faithHighway team really helped us create a web home that communicates our goal to ˜connect people to Jesus and each other.”
The team is effectively utilizing these three sites to communicate effectively the diversity of their congregation while providing a place for the different groups to connect and thus achieving Lora’s goal; “Together we are seeking to know God and grow in our relationship with Him as we serve people and make a difference in our communities and around the world.”
The main site is very informative and gives visitors a look into the church while creating a place for members to connect, submit prayer requests, and find a small group to attend. The children’s site provides information about the children’s program from where to drop off kids to how to get involved. The youth site gives information to the parents on the youth program, but also provides a place for the teenagers to gain information about upcoming events and access a newsletter especially for them.
The church is also utilizing their website to spread the Gospel through online media. They are providing online sermons, monthly newsletters, and the faithHighway message board system.
They have over 1200 members and have found that having a website has helped them tremendously in staying connect with members while attracting new visitors. As Lora puts it, “Our faithHighway website serves as the gateway for many of our visitors and newer members. They learn more quickly about our mission and ministries through our website than they could in many conversations with a staff member. We also use the site as a way to keep our members current and informed about events and activities. We’re thrilled with our web presence!”
