Pastor J.R. Carell has been the Senior Pastor at Discovery Christian Church for about one year now. Formerly known as Forrest Hills Church, Discovery Christian Church is headed in a new direction, and because of that, they have invested in a redesign of their old website. The church now has a renewed focus on creating a loving community that will encourage existing members, while at the same time providing a welcoming environment for those looking to discover Christ for themselves.
While their old site wasn’t terrible, Pastor Carell and the people of Discovery felt that they needed to present a much more modern and inviting face on the web. As I was speaking with Pastor Carell, he reminded me that statistics show that most people will look at a church’s website before they set foot in a church building. Therefore, it is imperative that a church have an updated look, in order to be seen as relevant by today’s standards. The addition of the Sermon Connect multimedia center will also serve to propel this church’s message to the masses.
Pastor Carell has an easy going, conversational teaching style that he uses to spread the gospel to a very diverse North Tampa congregation. With the addition of a contemporary service, a remodeled nursery, and a café, Discovery is poised to do great things for the kingdom of God in Florida.
