My Favorite Recent Redesign

I had the opportunity to work with the people at Aldan Union Church to plan out one of my favorite website redesigns. Revolution Student Ministries has gone from a website that was good for its time years ago, to the cutting edge communication tool that it is today. In planning out the scope of this redesign, it was important to make sure that we updated the graphics. We changed from a pretty dated look, to a fresh and slightly urban grunge feel.

  • The incorporation of flash on the homepage gives the site more life than it would have if it were merely an all static homepage.
  • With the addition of Sermon Connect, faithHighway’s new multimedia center, Revolution Student Ministries has significantly increased their communication potential.

Prior to this redesign, visitors to the RSM site had to click on a sermon title, and then wait for the the sermon to download. Depending on the user’s connection, it might take a considerable amount of time for the message to finish downloading and be available for the visitor to listen to. However, since adding Sermon Connect to their site:

  • RSM can offer both audio and video that can begin playing a few moments after the visitor clicks the play button.
  • They can also offer their messages through the medium of a podcast, which is one of the latest and most popular means of communication on the web.
  • It is imperative for any ministry that intends to reach youth to be equipped with the latest media technologies in order to effectively reach this generation.

It has been a great experience getting to work with the people at RSM to revamp their old website. With a new set of graphics and more communication power, RSM is poised to attract more youth to their website and do great things for the kingdom of God.
