Once you have attracted visitors to your website, you want to be sure to have an online presence that will then lead them through the doors of the church. We have discovered 5 key elements that when used together, create a website ready to achieve your objectives.
Visual Design – is appropriate to the intended audience and compliments the purpose of the site rather than distracting from it.
Structure and Navigation – gets visitors where they want to go quickly and offers easy access to the breadth and depth of the site’s content.
Interactivity – encourages users to not only gain information but share information as well.
Functionality – makes the experience center stage and the technology invisible.
Content – conveys a body of knowledge to visitors and members alike.
As you consider how these key elements affect visitors to your site, check out our First Impressions blog posts. Visitors to websites (not necessarily faithHighway sites) rank their impression of these categories and how those impressions affected their perception of the ministry and their decision to visit the church. We hope this feedback will help you discover the true importance of these elements and encourage you to rethink your web strategy.
Over the next few months, we will be exploring how to use these elements to create a website geared towards your specific online goals. Here are some things to consider before then:
1. What goals do you have for your website?
2. Are you doing everything you can to attract visitors to your site?
3. Are you encouraging your membership, leadership, and staff to make the most of the site?
4. Of the five key elements for a good website, which elements accurately describe your site?
5. Of those same elements, which need some work?
As always, we would love to hear back from you. Feel free to email us at feedback@faithHighway.com or post a comment here!
