I met Tony Steward almost a year ago at the Echo Conference in Dallas, he is the real deal. He had just come on staff at Lifechurch.tv as a online community pastor. I have seen alot of people try to bring church online and make it a viable experience, but I have never seen what Tony and his team at Lifechurch.tv have been able to do over the past year. They have taken an idea of having church online and made it a viable option for both seekers and followers of Christ. While listening to Chris Brogan interview Tony Steward in this clip – I think I heard the key to Lifechurch.tv success in creating true community online. Tony said, “serve people at their point of need instead of seeing it as a channel to throw content at people and seeing what happens.” I believe this is key to not only “internet church” but also the church at large. If we aren’t studying, praying, learning and growing in the area of meeting people at their point of need – then we lose the right to tell them about Jesus. If we are just “throwing content”at people and expecting them to change… we are fooling ourselves ! Look at how Jesus met people at their point of need – and then do the same.
