1. Can you give me some background about your church and how long have you been there?
Bay Community Church is six years old. We are in the Miami area. Miami is the second most unchurched city in the United States. Ninety-four percent of Miamians are unchurched. Even being so young, we’ve gone through several significant changes. When we started we bought the idea, “it’s all about Sunday.” Rather, Sunday service has to be dynamic and people will come. We didn’t find that to be true. Our service is dynamic. But, it’s really what happens throughout the rest of the week that is important. We’ve stressed life-changing connections through small groups and in being the Body of Christ to our community though deliberate compassion.
We also seek to be a “Category 5 Church” giving maximum impact and blessing in the lives of the people we come into contact with and to our community.
2. How are you using your website to increase member involvement?
Honestly, we’ve used our website more for providing information to those looking for a church. We’ve found it very effective in that area. We are just now trying to make it a resource for our members to increase involvement.
3. How has the use of technology changed the way you do church?
We’ve tried to harness technology from the very beginning. We’ve used video in our services from the very beginning. We are using both Facebook and Twitter to let people know what’s going on in our church.
4. How are you using media to communicate your message?
Not only do we use audio/video in our services. We also use media to communicate the message of Jesus Christ by posting the audio of our weekly message on our website. It can be streamed or downloaded. We’ve not yet posted video, but we hope to soon.
5. How has the use of technology helped your ministry change lives?
It has helped in a variety of ways. Certainly, every aspect of our weekly worship gathering uses some form of technology from our sound system to using video illustrations as part of our weekly message. Many times video speaks more to our generation, since we were raised watching television. We try to meet people where they are and video is a good resource in that area.
Our website has been effective in getting people who want to know about us to find out about us without stepping foot in our facilities. People today want to know about you from the web before they commit time and effort into walking into your building. Once they walk in then they can hear the good news about Jesus.
6. If you were the Chief Technology Czar for churches, what would be your recommendation(s)?
Paul said that he became all things to all people so that he might win some for Jesus Christ. Our culture is a tech savvy culture and technology can be leveraged to present the gospel in a way that they can understand and relate to it. My recommendation is to use technology to help frame and understand the message about Jesus.

The community pastor had shared all the words of god. In this way, he can inspire the listeners to do the right thing at all times.
