My name is Robert and I'm the Media Director at a small mobile church in Houston, TX. Before I was saved, I used to DJ on Houston's air waves and glorified money and myself more than anything. The Lord called me to serve Him and His people 2 years ago. I started DJing for the Lord but later realized that it brought on too much pride and that it was not the best way to serve God. I was confused because I was certain that the Lord gave me the talent to DJ to use for His glory. After several conversations with my Pastor I realized that all of the technical knowledge I had acquired throughout the years could also be used to glorify our Master. I am no longer center stage which is where I used to think I belonged. I am now responsible for a media team of 15-20 volunteers and am eager to attend the Echo conference to learn new and creative ways to use technology to keep spreading the Gospel. We have recently started posting our videos on YoutTube: <a href="http://bit.ly/9xZ34A" target="_blank">http://bit.ly/9xZ34A</a>

You can watch my testimony here: <a href="http://bit.ly/9Uc2Ed" target="_blank">http://bit.ly/9Uc2Ed</a>

Thank you for your time,

I have a dream that one day I'll look around the traditional service of our church and see a room full of senior citizens tweeting during the sermon. A dream that I'll walk through our atrium overhearing someone say, "I found out about this church through Facebook". A dream that our church learns to not isolate from culture, but engage culture in a way that changes lives. The Echo Conference may be the start of a dream come true! So when you're considering giving me a ticket, don't think about me.... think about the tweeting senior citizens.

I am 52 years old. I am a former pastor who has gone back to seminary. I purchased my laptop about nine months ago. I recently learned how to text and I get kidded by my family that I am way behind technologically. But I am a good learner. I currently study and apply intercultural communication and would like to learn more about digital communication. I think this will help me to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and make disciples of a younger generation. I think that cross generational communication is going to be a big area in the near future (and even now). I think this would be good for my wife also. Thank you for any consideration. May God bless you as you seek to build His Kingdom.
GRACE to you,
Bill (Rom. 15:13; Ps. 21:6)

I am the pastor of a newer church in small town Texas. The area is void of connection but filled with young adults and their kids. They are connecting somewhere it is just not in their immediate community. I have been around some high caliber people as of late that are helping me see that these people are connected, just not to one another and NOT in their own town. My community needs to be reached with the greatest message ever given to man and learning how to do that with people who have not yet been engaged on their "turf" makes my head spin with excitement and fear. I suck at this and think this conference can help add direction to this journey and equip me with the tools I need to bring this community together for the sake of Christ.

1) just read @rhetter blog post raving about ECHO
2) never been

My video comment I left yesterday was much better than this comment post, but I don't see it here. :(

A list of my reasons:

-I'm the media director at DCCI in OKC
-I'll be transitioning into a new, more complex media position very soon.
-I'm a learner
-I rarely get to attend confrences, but have wanted to attend ECHO for a few years, I'm just unable to afford it.
-I have many great friends in Dallas that I've met through Twitter that i'd like to see again (Ben Jordan, Michael McMinn, etc)
-I like Dallas
-I did the Train Friday video, as well as the "Thomas the Tank engine, Train Friday edition"
