Overall, the $5 e-book is a quick download and quick read. While I felt the information was somewhat redundant if you’re at all familiar with Twitter, it did offer some good ideas on how to use it as an effective communication tool for your congregation as well as church staff. Some ideas I thought were useful:
- Assigning a private Twitter account for your church staff- to send them important updates.
- Use it for prayer requests
- Use it to highlight key points of a sermon
- Use it for conducting polls during a service
- Use it to give your congregation a glimpse of your daily life
Most of the book felt like an introductory tutorial on how to get started with Twitter and how it works. If you’ve never used or heard of Twitter before, then you will definitely find this book helpful. If you already use Twitter, then this book might not be the best tool for you.
The layout of the book is great and easy to follow. I particularly like the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. They were relevant and pensive.
The e-book made mention that if you’re not sure whether your congregation is ready to jump on board with Twitter then lead by example. If the Pastor of a church starts using it and can show his congregation that it has value, then they will probably be more likely to jump on the bandwagon.
Buy this book if you’re wondering what Twitter is or how you could use it for your church.
Don’t buy this book if you are wanting an in-depth look into how churches are using Twitter.
Thumbs half up on this book.
