I read an article from November 2008 on computerworld.com but thought the info was relevant and wanted to share.
Everyone is trying to figure out how Twitter can work for them. Whether it’s a marketing plan or just another avenue of communication, Twitter is trying to make it easier. But if you’re a church or business and wondering how to get started, here are a few things to think about:
- What is your purpose in using Twitter? What do you want your readers to gain or not gain from your posts?
- Follow the right people- what topics are you interested in that will help you to engage in conversation? Find tweeters with your interests and start up a conversation.
- Keep it interesting- don’t just talk about yourself. Talk about your followers too.
- Engage in conversation- people will likely create a loyalty to people who are more “like” them. Don’t just Twitter- write blog posts and post pictures.
- Use the right Twitter tools to help you sort and respond to Tweets. Ex: Tweetdeck and Twhirl
What Twitter applications do you use and why? What do you recommend?
