Braden Abshire is faithHighway’s full time operations and data analyst. He started working at faithHighway just over 13 months ago and is a value to all departments within faithHighway.
Because of Braden’s extensive knowledge of Excel, he is able to create reports to help with efficiency in all areas of faithHighway.
“The biggest challenge is to gain access and piece together all data that is necessary to complete a report or analysis,” Braden says.
Braden moved to Austin to study finance at the University of Texas. He has since stayed in Austin except for a short time while he worked in professional sports.
Volunteering takes up most of Braden’s free time. He works with the international students on the University of Texas campus. He is also involved in a Precepts Bible study. When he’s not volunteering, he can be found playing basketball or trading the Forex market. He also enjoys using data to manage lineups and trades in baseball simulation games.
While Braden enjoys playing basketball and volunteering, he has a hidden talent that he shared with the staff recently. It began when he challenged several coworkers to guess his rapper’s name.
“The guessing game ensued in regards to my rap name, Fluffy White, so that I would perform some Christian rap lyrics from a small town Texas boy. It was certainly an interesting experience for all involved,” Braden says.
Braden’s theme for 2009 comes from Hebrews 12:1-3.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and Perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
.
While Braden is learning to apply these principles in his life, he also wants to learn some more Chinese and shift his Forex trading from demo to live.
“I also want to continue to build friendships and share Christ with International students,” he
says.
