Meet the Staff: Jason Poe

General

Imagine that your website just went live and you begin to reminisce about the process you went through to make new tool come alive. You think about that first interactive media specialist you talked to who helped you launch your vision, the preproduction specialist who brought that vision into focus by defining the scope of work, and the client relations manager who brought that vision to life. What you may or may not be aware of are all the people working behind the scenes to make the flow of work happen in such a way that you get what you asked for in a timely manner. One such person is Jason Poe, faithHighway’s Lead Production Programmer.

In this position, Jason has a variety of responsibilities which include leading a team of four programmers, helping out with production processes, and handling  a few quality control items for faithHighway’s development team. If you could experience a day in the life of Jason, it would look something like this:

“I do a lot explaining to make sure my team understands requests and knows how to complete them. Often I spend time brainstorming or collecting data to give suggestions on ways to improve our production process. I also am working on an automated system to test new products, so that normally fills up the rest of the day. My position is fairly reactionary by nature, so sometimes I have my day planned, but end up doing something completely different.”

A little after starting with faithHighway (3 ½ years ago) Jason married Jade, a news reporter for the NBC affiliate, KCEN-TV in the Waco, Texas area. Currently, she does a lot of reporting at Fort Hood, the largest military base in the nation.

When Jason isn’t spending time with his bride or working on the development side of websites, he enjoys a variety of hobbies. He enjoys writing and recording music. In fact, he plays in a band with Corbin Petersen from faithHighway’s Tech Support department. They also help lead worship at Southwest Family Fellowship in Austin. It’s a church plant that was planted out of their home church in Missouri. He also likes watching Texas football and playing with his half Chihuahua, half Pug: Mr. Chugs.

One thing that Jason is seeking after is unshakeable faith in God.

“I want to have a love, and trust in the goodness of God, that transcends my comfort. I’ve seen a lot of people turn from God, or blame God when things go wrong. I don’t want to be like that. I want a faith like Job’s, where everything imaginable can go wrong, but I still understand that God is in control, and I can trust Him.”

This conviction has lead him to Job 13:15:

“Though He slay me, I will hope in Him. Nevertheless I will argue my ways before Him.”

No matter where you are at in life, you too can seek after that rock solid trust in the Lord. As your website goes live, you can trust God to cause this ministry tool to bear fruit.

It is an exciting opportunity to be able to merge my faith with my work. Through my years of working with faithHighway, I have learned, and continue to learn, a multitude of strategies and concepts that when employed, help churches and ministries increase their online potential.
