Tell the Story

I watched in agony as my beloved Cowboys got shredded like a document at an Enron accounting party.As usual, I was intrigued by the background information that the announcers provided. Story after story. Neat insights. Quips. Humor. All of it added to the game, even though the outcome was to my disliking. But it serves as a good reminder – tell the story. Your church is way more important than a football game. There is so much more going on in your church and in the lives of the people you serve. You need to tell the story.

Why? Because it’s important. What Jesus does in someone’s life is so much more amazing than football or any other story. It’s why we build websites – to give you a place to tell your story. It’s really the best use for Facebook and Twitter and all the other social aps. The story needs to be told. And it’s the story God is unfolding at your place of ministry. So tell it. Tell it often. Tell it so people can see that God is at work in and through your ministry.

One other reason to tell the story. It reminds us all that we do not have to be superstars to experience something amazing. At the end of the day, there are really only a few people on the field of football in comparison to the number of people Jesus died for on the cross. When you tell the story, you remind us all that we are all the story. We are not spectators. We are not arm chair quarterbacks. We are people who are experiencing something that is worth telling about. So please tell the story. Tell it on your web site. Tell it on Twitter and Facebook. Tell it from the pulpit. Tell it in small groups. Just tell it.
