Church Growth

What if Church was like the BSC National Championship game?

Tonight is THE big game of the year. While I’m a very avid Texas Tech Red Raider fan…I have decided that in the absence of my Raiders playing in the championship game, I will extend my loyalties to the Texas Longhorns and might even say “Hook ‘Em” tonight.  May the best team win and may all the fans on both the winning and losing teams learn to love each other.

So, now on with the post… What if Church was like the BSC National Championship game?

  1. People would debate all year long why their church is the best.
  2. People would brag about what God is doing in people’s lives at their church.
  3. People would come to church with signs supporting their pastor and hold them up proudly.
  4. Cheers would break out during the service when the pastor said something challenging, which would result in the left side of the congregation yelling the first part of the cheer and the right side yelling the 2nd part.
  5. The pastor would have to blow his whistle to calm everyone down and review what he had just said that would have caused such a ruckus.
  6. Thousands of people would show up to service because they are so enthusiastic about being a part of something moving.
  7. Church service would be a topic of discussion all throughout the week leading up to the service and many, many weeks following the service.
  8. People would become very defensive of their Creator if someone were to talk negatively about Him.
  9. People would show up hours early to make sure they got the best seat and to fellowship with the body of Christ.
  10. People would charge the stage at the end of the service and jump around in excitement for having had a life changing experience.
