Continuing in our Have You Considered series. Have you considered prayer cards? Like most ministry leaders, we all want to pray more. And we definitely want to pray for the members of our church on a consistent basis. Here is an idea for you. Create a post card that has a simple graphic and the phrase “I prayed for you today.” Then, print out every person’s name and address in your church on a mailing label. Now you have a systematic list of people to pray for. Then, take ten or twenty of those a week and pray for each person individually. When you finish, write a personal note to the person you prayed for, put a stamp on it, and put it in the mail. Then, when you get through your cards, start over.
This will basically allow you to pray for every person in your congregation in a systematic way, keep the members of your church front and center in your prayer time, and communicate to your congregation that they have a praying pastor who is spiritually supporting them.
