Happy Saint Patrick’s day to you, Andy’s dear reader(s)! As you can see, I am once again burdened privileged with bringing your website best practices as Andy spends his day with his visiting parents (hi Mr. & Mrs. Grove).
For the last few weeks, I have been working with my pastor on sermon graphics, sermon series concepts and figuring out how we want to approach our print marketing at our church. This task has me thinking about the way the sermon series graphics are used through all our marketing mediums. As I take a count of where you can see our marketing graphics within the church, I count no less than a half dozen. Let’s walk through what you might see as a potential visitor:
- Driving up to the church, you will see a banner with the church name. Once it returns from print, a banner with the current series graphic will be hanging on the front of the church.
- When you walk through the doors, you’re greeted by smiling greeters, donuts and coffee to your left (YES!) and mounted on the wall to the right is a 5’x3’ banner with the coming soon series. This banner will be moved outside when it’s time comes.
- Walking into the sanctuary, you will see the main sermon graphic on 2 large projection screens.
- Inside the bulletin, you will see the graphic again for your sermon notes section.
- All screens on the powerpoint presentation for the sermon have the same graphic as a side banner.
- Of course, you will see our graphic on our church website homepage and SermonFlow pages.
So, by now, you should have gathered the importance of frequency and repetition in displaying your sermon marketing. Now for the real meat! Here are my recommendations for using sermon graphics:
- Graphics should be impressive! Clipart is no longer acceptable in the “Photoshop age”. If you have some skills, or a volunteer with skills, make it from scratch. If not, check out places like creativemyk.com and see what others are doing and making available. Or, call us with your ideas and we can craft something awesome for you.
- Graphics should be on multiple mediums. Paper, Banners, Signs, Web… Get those impressive graphics in view of the public.
- Graphics should be consistent. Find your church’s voice and style, and stick with it. If you’re not a cutting edge church, don’t make cutting edge graphics. If you are a church that is all about humor and being casual, make your graphics humorous and casual. Let your brand shine through!
If you need help figuring out your church’s brand or coming up with that stellar sermon graphic, give the folks at faithHighway a call! We are bursting with amazing ideas! Ask for Andy!
