I have been that first time guest that has kids. When I was that first time guest, I normally kept my kids with me during the service. I can’t remember a church that thought ahead about that.
So here is something to consider. When you notice the kids will be in service, why not equip the ushers with some activity sheets and crayons. Most restaurants do it. Here is an extra step. Why not brand this information.
It’s easy to copy off a bunch of pictures of Bible characters or whatever. Why not go ahead and put some church branding on there. During the service, while little Johnny is coloring, mom or dad will look down from time to time to keep an eye on Johnny. If your branding is on that sheet, mom and dad are going to see it. So what should you consider for branding? Here are a few ideas:
- Logo
- Age groups served in kids ministry
- Characatures or cartooned images of your kids ministry team
- Your next big kid day
- Web site address
In summary, if you will consider the needs of the parents and kids sitting in that service, you will communicate you were anticipating their visit to your church and you appreciate the needs they would have.
