First Impressions: Site receives a C for average site elements.

First Impressions is facilitated through Guest Reflections. People are asked to pick a website from a church in their area at random and review it. These sites may or may not be powered by faithHighway.

Church Location: Apple Valley, CA

User Profile:

  • Female
  • 30 to 39 years old
  • African-American
  • Area Resident for 1 to 2 years
  • Attends Church 1 to 4 times per year

Final Grade: gradeC This site has average navigation and functionality. The visitor like the simple design but found the functionality to be lacking. ____________________________________________________________________________________

titleNavigation “The information was listed on the side tab and easy to access.” Despite the simple navigation, the visitor still had trouble finding some basic information. gradeC
titleFunctionality“The Announcements link gave me an error message stating that the page could not be found, so I was unable to review the current announcements and the Directory link was password protected so I don’t understand why they would offer a directory which required a password. There was not information on how to receive a password to view the directory.” gradeDminus
titleContent“I liked that the site was easy on the eyes, meaning that the background was white and the text was easy to read against the background. The necessary items were there, though not much else. Very minimal site.” gradeC
titleGraphics“The website has a simple design. The vibe I received from the website was welcoming, friendly and simple.” gradeBplus

“Probably.”

faithHighway Tips for improvement…
…from a design expert:

“This website has almost no images on it at all. Getting information out is important, but this website would be much more effective with images to illustrate who this church is.”

…from a programming expert:

“They currently have a broken link that should be fixed.”

…from a web outreach expert:

“The site should include some sort of graphic design to give potential visitors a feeling of what they might experience should they come to a Sunday service.”
