I ran across this blog post- 40 Ways You Can Invite People to Church by Michael Lukaszewski and thought there were some good ideas on inviting people to church.
Click on the link above to read the whole list.
Some of my favorite ones were:
- Dress up like a Star Wars character wherever there are people and take pictures with kids and families. Give them a special invite card with the location they can download the picture. You will have a blast and invite a bunch of people to church.
- Volunteer at community runs and bike races
- Have a free garage sale…give away things and invite people to church
- Put out road signs on the weekend (did you know about 15% of people who attend our church for the first time do so because they saw a road sign?)
- Take food to fire stations. Let them know you appreciate them and that they are always welcome at your church.
What else could you add? What was your favorite?

How about just offering the message of Jesus to those who are interested in Spiritual things? I can't believe that so many have so little confidence in the Power of the gospel to draw the honest and good heart… you do realize if you draw the person who is not spiritual you will get the same kind of Christian! How about this for drawing power… "Come here the Bible message of Jesus!"

Thanks for joining the conversation, Nathan.
While I appreciate where you are coming from, because we all agree that the Power of the Gospel is greater than any outreach tool, the majority of people don't understand what "Come hear the Bible message of Jesus" even means. It is not relevant to their lives and the words are meaningless unless they have been defined.
I mean, most people would actually be turned off by that phrase simply because Christians lived flawed lives, just as unbelievers, and anything "Christian" is fake in their eyes.
Now, one way it can be relevant is by teaching them overtime, after building relationship. I believe Laura shared this post for the purpose of starting relationships with people. Nearly 75% of all conversions happen in the context of family or close friends because conversion requires understanding, trust and belief. Listed above are some great ways to make new close friends and share the Good News with them through the a real relationship.

Nathan- Thanks for the comment. I do realize the power of Jesus' message. However, we can tell people all day and night about the message, but unless God moves in their heart to understand the message, then our words do nothing. If we do our part in inviting, sharing as the spirit leads, praying for the lost to understand, and loving everyone as Christ loves us, then that is the Message and Lord willing they will begin to understand the Love God has for them.
